I noticed that, in the comic, a DM is using a laptop. I have never tried GMing with a computer.
What bothers me is if that is the official way we should play from now on (D&D Insider etc.).

I play with my Lap top at the table. Though I only use it to reference some stuff from books (Yes I have electronic copies of most of the 3.5 books) when I don’t have the actual book with me or for maps (sometimes NPCs) when my printer was out of ink and/or paper and I couldn’t print them. However I agree that a Laptop should NOT be a neccessity at the gaming table normally, which DDI thinks it should be. Though I am curious how it their tools are going to work when you have players like me who don’t have a wireless network in tehir house and can’t access DDI.
